Overcoming barriers
Few people believed John Aaker would go to college. Even fewer believed the student with physical and learning disabilities would ever graduate.
On Friday, the 29-year-old Minnesota State University Moorhead student will prove the skeptics wrong as he receives his college diploma.
With the help of technology, Aaker adapted the classes to his learning style. He used a software program called Dragon Dictate that, when he talked to his computer, displayed his words on the screen.
