I’ve been using dictate on my desk top without too many problems, unfortunately I can’t save my user file when I close the program. It gets worse when I try to emulate earlier versions of Windows.
My new lap top won’t even allow me to install it. I’ve emulated everything but a commodore 64! I love the command mode, and the easy programming it allows for programs such has AutoCAD. HELP! Please send in the troops!

Hi dprite, welcome! As you can see there aren't many of us, but I keep this board alive just for problems like yours. I hope I'll be able to help. I've been running DragonDictate on Windows XP laptops with only a few problems for awhile now.
What version of DragonDictate are you using?
On your desktop, have you tried creating a new user file, in case it got corrupted? |

| thanks for such a quick reply! I'm using 3.00.418 I didn't create a new user because my old user had all of AutoCAD 2000 commands I created. Can I create a new user and retain those commands? |

I should have a patch to bring it up to 3.01 or 3.02 somewhere... maybe that will do the trick. I'll search for it tomorrow; I've been meaning to upload all my archived DragonDictate files anyway.
A new user wouldn't automatically retain the AutoCAD commands you created, but you should be able to export them. (You can open the user, right? Even on a different computer?) If I remember correctly all you have to do is go into the Vocabulary Manager, highlight the AutoCAD vocabulary, and choose Export from the menu. Then create your new user, import it, and (mentally) cross your fingers.
I'll look for that patch tomorrow; hope that helps in the meantime. |

| I've found a couple of patches that might help; check out the Downloads section. Let me know how it goes! |
